Sketch Comedy Intensive

​You will walk through the process of learning from square one how to create a sketch in this five hour intensive comedy workshop. We’ll be there with you every step of the way. Creating sketches in a low pressure, friendly online atmosphere.

Bill Chott and Eric Von Hoffman have written and performed  with the likes of Dana Carvey, Bob Odenkirk, Robert Smigel, Janeane Garofalo, David Cross, the Farrelly Brothers, and countless others, and are thrilled to relay what they've learned from their years in comedy.

THE CLASS
This is an Introductory Masterclass to the basics of writing comedy sketches. For the beginner or the seasoned pro looking for some fresh inspiration. This will help improve your other writing projects: daily journals, social media posts, etc.
• You will learn how to write different genres and styles of sketch in a writers room setting.
• How to brainstorm new material.
• How to create a story for your sketch.
• Punching up, rewriting, editing.
• Assemble/perform a professional table read.
Students can bring pre-written sketches to class. We love to laugh!

Bill Chott is the founder of The Improv Trick school of comedy and known for his writing/performing on such legendary programs as The Dana Carvey Show and Saturday Night Live. He’s an alumnus of Chicago’s Improv Olympic, Second City, and Hollywood’s own The Dickie Bell Twist Dance Party, where he first worked with co-instructor Eric Von Hoffman. Bill has written/performed sketches at the HBO Workspace, The Comedy Store, and UCBTLA/NY. For corporations, he facilitates workshops in team building, innovation and communication.
Eric Von Hoffman is known for his writing/performing on such also-legendary programs as Mr. Show, With Bob and David, and the film Girlfriend’s Day. He is the co-author of the McSweeney’s how-to humor bible, Comedy By The Numbers. He’s an alumnus of Chicago’s Comedy Workshop class w/ Norm Holly, The Annoyance Theatre, and The Dickie Bell Twist Dance Party in LA. Eric has written/performed sketches at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Just For Laughs Montreal, HBO Workspace, ioWest, The Comedy Store, and UCBTLA/NY. He has taught sketch writing at The Improv Trick and UCBTLA.
